Sampling and Testing for Wastewater
Correct sampling practices are essential for accurate knowledge and quality control. The WSP Environmental Training Centre delivers a Wastewater Sampling and testing course to demonstrate the principles and practices behind collecting and transporting representative samples for testing.
Description
The Sampling course introduces water quality and compliance monitoring with an opportunity to achieve NZQA unit standard 24927: Describe and undertake sampling and testing procedures for wastewater.
Course content covers:
- Introduction to the importance of sampling
- Requirements of Resource Consent
- Introduction to characteristics of environmental and wastewater
- Practical, on-site testing
- Sampling practices to avoid contamination
- Sample labeling, handling, storage and transportation
- Record keeping
Assessment information
The course provides theory and practical assessment on the day of the course. To complete the requirements of the unit standard attendees are to supply evidence of sampling in the workplace which is to be completed within an agreed timeframe.

This course is designed for staff involved in monitoring and compliance activities such as wastewater operations, trade waste, laboratory technicians and regional council compliance and those upskilling to be "suitably qualified personnel"
