Principles and Trends - Water Treatment is a classroom based course developed for those interested in drinking water treatment. Over four busy days experts from WSP cover core water treatment science and processes, and recent changes to legislation, illustrated by visits to operating treatment plants.
Description
This course has evolved over more than 15 years into a broad introduction to drinking water, including major recent changes in legislation, for those new to water treatment processes and those that wish to catch up with recent changes.
Course content covers:
- Water use and characteristics
- Water treatment processes from pre-treatment to filtration and final disinfection, including waste management, taste & odour, and fluoridation
- Three Waters reform including:
- Water Services Act 2021 and its implications
- New Drinking Water Standards and Quality Assurance Rules
- Te Mana o Te Wai
- Drinking Water Safety Planning
- Small Water Systems (now called Acceptable Solutions)
- Field trip
