Water Matters - Backflow

Learning from real life lessons: from source to tap discussion series - Backflow

Description

We are back for 2022 and repeating some of the sessions from last year but this year we will also look at “what would you do next” including requirements under the new rules and the Water Services Act.

Can we say hand on heart that we have all the preventive measures in place to stop this from happening in our water supply?

Could this happen to us?

To support increasing understanding of the importance of drinking water safety amongst water supply staff and management, we have put together a discussion series based on case studies in the book Ensuring Safe Drinking Water – Learning from Frontline Experience with Contamination by Steve & Elizabeth Hrudey.

Each session will focus on one case study and be run as a facilitated discussion session lasting for up to 90 minutes.  You will be required to have read the case study prior to the session.

The sessions are independent of each other so there is no requirement to attend all sessions. In fact, we encourage you to select the session that is of most interest to you.

Note: to ensure we maintain a discussion format, we have limited each session to 15 people but are running 2 sessions. We are running a wait list so please let us know if you register and then can’t make it!

Who should attend

The sessions are designed for staff involved in water supply, including treatment plant operators and those that have responsibility for water assets.
