Risk Management for Wastewater Treatment (Micro-Credential)
The Certificate in applying Risk Management to Wastewater Treatment Management (Micro-credential) Level 5 is a classroom based course designed for those interested in wastewater treatment. To the existing Principles and Trends course it adds a case study and assessment which enables the Micro-credential to be awarded on successful completion of both.

Course content:
- Wastewater characteristics and biology
- Wastewater treatment from pre-treatment to final disposal including primary, secondary and tertiary processes, sludge management, waste stabilisation ponds, on-site wastewater systems, anaerobic treatment
- Longer term trends
- Field trip to a treatment plant
- Regulation/compliance and water reform
- Efficiency with a spotlight on Carbon emissions
- Analysis and review of wastewater information for environmental protection
- Understanding components of a risk management plan for wastewater treatment
- Planning and conducting a wastewater risk management assessment targeting resource consent requirements
- Compilation of a report/presentation
Assessment information
Once you have completed the course there will be a report/presentation assessment that is required to be completed within 6 weeks of attending the course. On successful completion of the course and assessments you will be awarded the Certificate in applying Risk Management to Wastewater Treatment Management (Micro-credential).
