Foundation

The aim of the Foundation course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to guide them through the ethical, legal and practical requirements of decision making under Resource Management Act 1991 (RMA).

Accreditation remains a statutory requirement under the current system until any legislative changes take effect. Panel and commissioners must continue to hold accreditation to perform their roles.

Skills and knowledge gained during certification and recertification will remain relevant, even if the system changes, as core principles of good decision-making and procedural fairness will continue to apply. 

Future-proofing - maintaining accreditation now positions commissioners strongly for any transitional arrangements or new frameworks that may require similar competencies.
