New courses for 2024

The “Health (Fluoridation of Drinking Water) Amendment Act 2021” requires all drinking water supplies to be fluoridated. This legal requirement has shifted the decision-making authority on community water fluoridation from local authorities to the Director-General of Health on the basis that it is a health-based decision. Previously, about half of all municipal drinking water supplies were fluoridated meaning a significant change for the other half.

Waste Stabilisation Ponds (WSP’s) (previously called Oxidation Ponds) and Lagoons are the most common form of wastewater treatment in New Zealand. This 4 Day course introduces you to the pond and lagoon treatment process including practical design, operations, maintenance and troubleshooting. It includes sessions on advanced pond design, desludging, and land disposal options.

This two day course is an introduction to the processes required for disinfection of water reticulation systems. On successful completion you will be awarded a micro credential in pipeline disinfection on the NZQA framework and gain practical experience with disinfection practices.

The Certificate in applying Risk Management to Wastewater Treatment Management (Micro-credential) Level 5 is a classroom based course designed for those interested in wastewater treatment. To the existing Principles and Trends course it adds a case study and assessment which enables the Micro-credential to be awarded on successful completion of both.
